Whether you’re a career-oriented woman or a stay at home mom, looking good can be a tedious task on us. It may look easy, but I can assure you it isn’t.
We spend hours trying to perfect the right techniques and setting out the right tools. But whenever we are called on duty, we let our basic beauty regime slip.
There were days where I’d leave for work with wet hair and find myself in a massive hair faux pas. It isn’t just crippling on my appearance but also my self-confidence. Yes, appearance doesn’t matter if you’re self-made, but it’s not about showing off. It’s the whole idea of being comfortable in being you whilst taking care of your skin, hair, and nails.
And regardless of how busy you are, pushing beauty regimes to the back burner may defer your perspective about yourself.
So, on that note, I’ve formulated my basic beauty regime techniques that leaves my skin glowing, nails sparkling and hair on fleek.
1. Naturally Plump
Add a bit of peppermint or tea tree oil to your lip balm to give your lips a plumping boost. These make the lips look fuller and luscious. This method is a lot more effective than suction, as suction wears out after 4-5 hours.
You can also add the oil to your lip gloss for easy application.
2. Under eye magic
The weight of dull panda eyes can be eliminated by adding light eyeliner to your eye care regime. This ensures your eyes look less tired and dull.
But if you’re not so keen on light eyeliners, apply ice or cold spoon under the eye for 5 minutes. This works the magic as well.
3. Apple cider vinegar as a Facial Toner
Apple cider vinegar is a purifying agent that can act as a toner for your skin. It helps control breakouts and prevents blemishes from occurring.
However, since ACV is quite acidic, make sure you dilute it with a little primer or moisturizer. This will ensure to not strip your skin of natural oils.
Coffee and green tea are not just great caffeinated drinks to keep you feeling fresh. They’re also amazing body scrubs to use for a fresher looking skin.
Coffee and green tea are filled with anti-oxidants that rejuvenates the skin and reduces puffiness and redness. They also gradually reduce the appearance of cellulite. You can mix them with either olive oil or coconut oil to keep your face feeling healthy and soft.
5. Protect from nasty sun rays
While applying make-up or moisturizer, a lot of us forget the need to apply sunscreen. This leaves the skin feeling dehydrated and looking pale after you take off your make-up.
You can either buy a primer with sun protection or can dab in a little of sunscreen before your make up regime.
6. Shape your nails
This is one thing I always struggle with. I have long nails and despite filing them at all times, I find them breaking very often. But I recently discovered a trick where applying clear coat on the ridge of the nails prevents it from breaking any further.
7. Drying your hair in cotton shirts
When time is short to either straighten or blow dry your hair, use a cotton shirt for more absorption. Cotton shirts prevent frizzing of hair and helps your hair dry faster.
8. Petroleum jelly to the rescue
Apart from the fact that petroleum jelly helps soften the lips, they are an easy go-to for smoothening out cracks and rough skin.
If you’re prone to cracked skin on your feet, apply the jelly and wear a thick pair of socks. You’ll be left with smooth and even skin within an hour.
9. Utilize shower time
When life is busy, every second is precious to us. Utilize your shower time by exfoliating with sugar and olive oil. You can use this regime at least once a week. This makes the skin glow and look vibrant leaving you feeling fabulous.
10. Nick of time
Waxing is time-consuming so a lot of us prefer shaving. But that isn’t easy either. Especially when done fast, we tend to leave nicks on our skin having them burn all day.
In order to prevent nicks from burning out all day, massage baby oil on wet skin after shaving. You can then pat it dry in about 2-3 minutes. This method not only helps the skin feeling smooth but also prevent the burning nicks.
11. Maintaining your mane with green tea
It’s a fact. Managing hair is the most difficult task ever. We have a gazillion products to help make our hair look amazing. One of my go-to products is green tea. After shampooing and conditioning apply a mug of room temperature green tea over your hair and massage it in. And that’s all.
This prevents the hair from frizzing up or acting weird. It also keeps it bouncy and soft as ever.
Apart from all these, always remember to drink lots of water.
And remember less is more.
